your credits or just cheat in general.

Andreas Tadic, X2's lead coder, recommends the following to improve your
overall X2 skills.
Using the XS01 ship, aim at getting this weapon set up in these priorites:
- Plasma (first available at level 2).
- Homing lazer (first available on level 4).
- Electric tracking lazer (first avaiable at wasps, level 4).
- Sidelazer.
- Front and homing missiles.
- Plasma star bomb.
- Twin (avaible at level 6).
Donīt start using Twin until the falling rocks at the end of level eight,
the Homing lazer is more powerful up to this point.
You can count on getting killed at these places, so don't forget you are
rewarded an extra life every 2,500,000 points:
- Three yellow aliens on level 2.
- Wasps at level 4.
- Boss monster at level 6.
- Saw dragon at level 7.
- Boss monster level 8.
- Final boss monster at level 10.

Level 1:
Blue shells opening:
Shoot as many as possible, but retreat as they only give one pickup. Wait
until pickup turns to ripplelazer.
Yellow five in formation:
Stay top left or top right and make sure to shoot the first enemy in line
of five and you will get past no problem. Will release missiles pickup,
again only one.
Robot:
Stay on lower right part on screen to easily avoid his shots. Keep shooting
his legs and avoid missiles. Will deliver shots pickup. Go to top left of
screen when killed as next enemy will come from behind on lower right of
screen.
Yellow halfcircle:
Keep shooting. If you have problems killing them, stay left middle of
screen and avoid their shots. Will deliver shots pickups.
Two green aliens:
Stay lower right side of screen for a start. When the enemy is on screen, keep
opposite screen position and watch out as he fires fast lazers. When he
starts going into the distance the second will appear in the same pattern,
watch out and repeat your movement pattern. When they go off screen, go to the
middle of the screen as next enemy canīt kill you here.
Blue rotating things:
Stay in the middle of the screen and keep shooting, they canīt get you
here. No pickup delivered.
4 rastertime eaters:
As long as you donīt shoot them, you will be alright in the middle of the
screen. Take position in between them when lazer goes off and shoot. If
you kill one, take itīs place in their pattern, and you will be ok. You
will be warned before lazer comes on again by the spark at the center of
these enemies. Will deliver missiles pickup (one each).
Five in formation:
If you have problems with this enemy, stay left middle of the screen and
keep shooting. You will most likely shoot them before they shoot you if
you stay there. No pickup.
Red dragon:
The dragon will search for your position and your opposite screen position
every other time. Keep this in mind and KEEP moving. Will deliver shot
pickup.
Boss monster:
Start with keeping stop left, keep shooting as he fires missiles. Wait
until he opens up and becomes vonerable, go left and about one shipsize
above the middle of the screen. Shoot and release megabombs if you have
any. When he has closed again, go top left and repeat.
Level 2:
Twist shooter:
Enemy comes from top and bottom of the screen with a gap between every 5 of
them. Pass between the gap and get into the middle and start shooting.
Will deliver shots pickup. Try to wait until pickup goes to Plasma as this
weapon is quite a bit more powerful than Ripple. (This is when the FUN
starts !! :)
Red morpher:
Keep left middle of the screen, just enough for your shots to pass the
cliff. This way you will kill them before they start shooting. When you
get close to their vertical release line, pass them and avoid shots. Keep
in the middle of the screen. No pickup.
3 yellow aliens:
These will go for your position and opposite every other time like the red
dragon on level one. This time thereīs 3 of them and theyr'e faster.
Shoot all you can and release megabomb if neccessary. Try to go as low as
you can on the screen (between rocks) as they have a limit to how low they
can go. Their shots can still get you, but itīs better than running in to
them. Will deliver 1-2 missiles pickup.
Falling rocks:
Keep top left and keep shooting. No pickup.
Yellow morphs:
Go lower left in line with their lowest formation. Concentrate on shooting
this. You CAN NOT kill all of them. If you decide to dodge them, go
around the low rock formation when thereīs a gap. No pickup.
Worms:
Keep top left and keep shooting as the next enemy will appear together with
this. Will deliver shots if you can kill them.
Blue wobbler: (red and black, actually).
See above previous enemy. Will deliver missiles pickup.
Rocks again:
Stay top left and keep shooting. No pickup.
Spinning spitter:
These will shoot 3 lazer beams at a random left angle. Try to keep an eye
on the enemy close around you and keep ahead of what angle theyīre going to
shoot. No pickup.
Red rotater:
Keep top left and keep shooting. You need to kill at least one line of
enemys to keep ok. When you pass the rock formation, shoot your way out of
their pattern and go to the lower half of the screen and shoot turrets. No
pickup.
Green spitter:
Keep to the lower right of the screen (watch out for the rock formation)
and shoot them as they start turning left. When there's a gap they will
come in from the other side of the screen go left and do the same thing in
inverse. Will deliver 1-2 specials pickup.
Yellow fly:
If you find this enemy hard to kill, go to the middle top of the screen
directly after green spitters. They canīt get you here! No pickup.
Lazer mine field:
If you have problem killing all of them, concentrate on killling every
second one. This will give you more room to dodge between them. No pickup.
Rotating ball:
If you have problems killing all of them, go to the lower left of screen.
You're safe here until the last wave from the right comes to close. Go up
a little bit and then go down again. Try to go to the middle of the screen
on the last wave as you need to go to the middle of the screen before the
next enemy has reached bottom of the screen. Will deliver shots pickup.
Rtype enemy:
Keep in the middle of the screen and dodge the enemy fire. Try to shoot
the inner circle. Outer circle will fill in again, so the only point in
killing these would be to gain points. No pickup. Go to the bottom of the
screen after they have passed.
Boss monster:
Keep to the bottom of the screen as he canīt hit you here. Dodge enemy
fire as much as possible. Every other time he will fire missiles from his
left side. Shoot them as they come out to save you from dodging them.
Release whatever megabombs you might have :) Keep off the right side of
the screen as it will be filled with small yellow shots which you canīt shoot.
Level 3:
The enemies on this level act pretty much the same throughout:
What you can do though, if you are having problems shooting them is doding
them by placing your ship between the asteroids and enemies when trying to
get through. At all points you can do this and you will pass through the
narrow passages.
Level 4:
Weeble root:
There are two lines of enemies coming down at you vertically. Donīt try to
get both of them unless you have a full weapon build for this level.
Concentrate on shooting either the left or right line. Will deliver shot
pickup.
Spikey star:
Comes in from either the left or right and eventually from the top of the
screen. Keep of the screen edges in order to dodge them. Easy to shoot,
but do not deliver pickup.
Claws:
This big enemy drops lazermines down at you. If you keep exaclty
horizontally in middle of this enemy, you wonīt get hurt. Look out as he
goes of screen vertically at you. Delivers shot pickup.
Queeks:
Keep to the left most line vertically and concentrate on shooting these.
Unless fully powered up (for this level) you canīt get all of them.
Yellow mechs:
Shoots yellow standard shots vertically down only. Avoid these and youīll
be fine. If you have problems getting through you can go inbetween space
junk on the left in order to avoid them. Do not deliver pickups.
Wasps:
These are TOUGH. The only way to dodge these, unless you manage to shoot
them, is to keep low between the icey rocks at the bottom of the screen,
and fly over as soon as thereīs a gap. Delivers specials pickups.
Turndown alien:
Keep vertically just above the top of the rock on the right of the screen.
If placed here you can shoot them before they fire. No pickups.
Missile wave:
If having problems getting through, concentrate on the top two lines and
shoot these. Their shots are travel slowly and you should have no problems
avoiding these. No pickups.
Purple Dragon:
Moves on a random pattern and fires from itīs front. Avoid itīs lazers and
pattern and look ouf for the missiles it shoots out of itīs back. Delivers
shot pickup.
Spinning wobs:
Keep vertically low on the screen and shoot. Do not deliver pickup.
Blue snake:
Concentrate on shooting the top line only. As it moves in a snake
movement, you can dogde by travelling right forward on top of the screen
when the gap appears in itīs pattern! No pickup.
Bossmonster:
Keep tot he left of the screen, vertically in line with its head. Move
forward and slighty upwards when itīs shooting and go back when it stops.
Use your megabombs!
Level 5:
Electric split:
Concentrate on shooting either the top or bottom prod. No pickup.
Blue turn job:
Keep just above the spikey background graphics and youīll shoot them before
they fire. No pickup.
Blue spin:
Concentrate on the top or bottom line if youīre not fully powered up (for
this level). Move left and right to avoid their shots. Delivers shot
pickups.
Boat:
Very hard to shoot. Try to sneak past when itīs fully left or right. Make
sure to avoid the plasma stars ot drops. Delivers specials pickup.
Double:
Move vertically up and down to avoid itīs shots. Do your best to shoot
them as soon as possible as the yellow prod fires all directions when
released. Figure out the pattern, practiveand sooner or later youīll have
no problems getting through by shooting them before they release their
prods! No pickup.
Laser mine field:
Try going as close as you can vertically and shoot them with your main gun.
Note that theyr travel upwards and so must you! When both the lazermines,
tanks and turrets are on screen at once, use a megabomb!!
Spider:
Wait until they're off ground to shoot them, and you will get an effects
pickup of every second one. No pickup will be delivered if you shoot them
on the ground. Timing is the only trick to avoid these.
Blue turn job2:
Works the same as "blue turn job", but stronger. No pickup.
Blue wide:
Keep vertically low on the screen and concentrate on the bottom line of
enemies. At the first lines, dodge at the bottom of the screen to get
past. No pickup.
Thingdropper:
Keep to the bottom of the screen, right next to itīs shots and fire. No
problems getting past like this. No pickup.
Big cannon:
Place yourself in front of each enemy and shoot for your life. This is
tricky, but the best way to get past them. Delivers shots pickup.
Mines:
Easy, just shoot them. They will also travel vertically upwars when shot
(slightly). No pickup.
Popeye:
Stay on the middle bottom of the screen. When they fire missiles, go
upwards slightly and then down again. Delivers effects pickup.
Bossmonster:
Fire all your megabombs when its arms are being attached to the main body.
Shoot all you can as long as itīs shooting red bullets. Can avoid it by
going a bit up then left and down to get down to empty space on the left of
you. Make sure to go back to the middle of the screen before it starts to
fire itīs white big lazer as this will kill you in two hits. After this,
keep horizontally in middle of screen and keep shooting!!
Level 6:
Metal ball dropper:
Concentrate your main fire at shooting the balls it drops at you. Get past
the first narrow passage before balls start bouncing off this, as itīs much
harder being beneath after this. Delivers shot pickups.
Rockets:
Shoot them as soon as possible in order to avoid getting them down on the
screen. Try to keep at either the left or right of the screen. The enemy
fires small yellow shots in 4 directions with a 90 degree angle between
them. Try to keep youīre eyeīs on these rather than the rockets as the
rockets are easy to shoot anyway. No pickup.
Purple aliens:
Hard to shoot. Keep to the bottom left of the screen and try to avoid
enemy fire by going up very slightly and down again in order to confuse
their aiming. Deliver special pickups. When the last wave of enemies are
coming up, move horizontally to the middle of the screen, but stay at the
bottom.
Sideburns:
Forget shooting them. Stay where you are and concentrate on shooting their
shots. Alternatively, go to the top of the screen vertically. No pickups.
Invert chase:
Go around the screen in circles to confuse them. No pickup.
Circle pattern:
Stay on the left side of the screen and concentrate at shooting no more
than two lines of enemies at a go. Delivers effects pickup. When they
stop, go to the bottom of the screen.
Snake trails:
Concentrate on the top line of formation and travel left and right in order
to avoid their shots. Fairly easy to shoot. No pickup.
Purple wobbles:
Stay where you are and blow a gap in their formation so you can get
through. No pickup.
Asteroids:
A classic enemy. Do your best dodging them and preferably keep to the
bottom half of the screen. Delivers effects pickups.
Boss monster:
Release your megaboms as soon as the boss appears.
To kill this one you have to learn itīs pattern and dodge past it when it
attacks you. Sorry, not much more can be said.
Level 7:
Yellow rotz:
Keep to the bottom half of the screen and fire. This way youīll avoid most
of their fire. Delivers shot pickups.
Saw dragon:
The "knife" it releases is very hard to avoid. Try dodging by keeping
above and under the enemys as much as possible as the knife canīt reach you
here.
The enemy itself will hunt you, but itīs pattern is somewhat predictable.
Delivers specials pickup, which includes shields.. get this!!
Conductor:
Keep to the left of the screen and move up and down with its pattern to
shoot them.
If you want to dodge, use the same technique as described for "blue snake"
enemy on level 4. Delivers effects pickup.
Migga:
Follow their pattern vertically, staying on the left side of the screen.
Shoot!!!!! Deliver shots pickup.
Pods:
Go to the top of the screen and shoot. When thereīs a gap, go through
quickly. No pickups.
Red split:
Shoot them as soon as they come on the screen. Beware as their middle shot
will probably get through anyway. Move slightly up and down in order to
dodge this. No pickup.
Grey shooter:
Stay on the left hand side of the screen, fairly high up. By this time you
should have sideshots. Aim them at shooting the enemies coming up below
you. Also dodge their shots that come through. If you donīt have
sideshots, try getting in as close as possible to their formations and use
your main gun to shoot them. No pickups.
Red shooter:
Easy to avoid by staying left and low on the screen. Pay attention to the
background coming up below you after a while. Wait for a gap and travel
through as soon as possible. Delivers specials pickup, including shield
which comes in handy for upcoming boss enemy.
Bossmonster:
Travels around screen in circle formations. Learn the formation and youīll
be ok, but don't go to close to the edges of screen as you can crash into
the background. Release all your megabombs! If you have caught a shield
from the previous enemy, go to the centre off the boss and release you
megabombs here!! After a while this enemy fires lazer mines going
outwards, off the screen. These travel slowly, so you have to take them
into account when dodging the bosses movement..
Level 8:
Yellow blob:
Easy to avoid by keeping track of where they are when fading to invisible.
No pickups.
Crab:
Keep as far up on the screen as possible and sneak past obstacles when
there are gaps. Difficult to shoot, but delivers shot pickups.
Catflap:
Keep shooting until you have passed it then stop until itīs off the screen.
If you shoot before this, it may backfire on you. Canīt be killed.
Jellyfish:
Keep low on the screen and concentrate on the lower line of enemies unless
you have got a full weapon build. Will deliver specials pickups. Can be
dodged by going as low as possible on the screen.
Green shells:
Again, donīt try to shoot all of them. Concentrate on keeping high or low
on the screen. No pickups.
Greenwave1:
Stay left on the screen and fire at the leftmost line of enemies only if
you are having problems getting past these. Keep in mind that wall turrets
fire at you, so you have to move vertically up and down slightly to avoid
their firing. No pickups.
Pink spin:
Stay vertically in line under them to avoid their fire. Shoot one by one.
If you miss one youīre going to get hit by itīs fire. Delivers random
pickups.
Orangle monster:
Keep vertically in line to shoot the middle enemy and youīll be alright.
Try if possible to shoot the enemys next to it as well so you have to move
in. No pickups.
Dragonfly:
Stay low on the screen and donīt try to shoot them unless youīre God.
Sneak past obstactles between enemy fire when thereīs a gap. Delivers
effects pickup. When the last enemy goes off screen keep shooting and go
to the right shooting catflap, go past it and stop shooting to avoid
backfiring. Keep to the right side of the screen, constantly shooting to
avoid falling rocks as well as fire coming up beneath you.. No more
pickups on this level..
Boss monster:
Paahhh trickiest boss in the game. Fire all youīre megabombs as close to
itīs head as possible. The best you can do is estimate itīs movement and
just before itīs about to fire go top the left or bottom right of the
screen and pray the dragons head is too far off for the fire to hit you.
Level 9:
Green spin:
Stay on the left side of the screen, vertically in line with the enemy and
shoot all you can. Will deliver shot pickups.
Moving floor:
Wait until the first floor is half way horizontally on screen and enter the
lowest gap. Follow it and keep as far right on the screen as possible and
get out of it, but beware as thereīs a wall right next to you. Canīt be
killed.
Double circle:
Go into a circle when theres a gap and keep just a bit off the centre of
the circle to avoid getting shot. Some shots will get you anyway, but
hey..try shooting as much as possible on the red colored enemy. If you
manage to shoot this the inner circle will explode.. This is not
necceassary though as you can get out of the circle at the next gap. No
pickups..
Red wave 1:
Stay on top of the screen and concentrate on shooting the bottom line of
the enemy wave. This way you will get a chance to shoot ground obstacles
as well. (Which is needed). Move horizontally back and forth slightly to
avoid enemy fire. Delivers effects pickups.
Upyourpipe:
Try to shoot the enemy as low as possible when its appearing on the screen
in order to create a gap to get into when the gas flame has just gone out.
If you canīt get the right line of enemies, release a megabomb. Do
anything as long as you avoid the gasflame which will kill you with two
hits. No pickups.
Carousel:
These move in groups of three. Try to shoot out groups next to each other
rather than random enemies in order to create a gap. No pickups.
Green aliens:
Easy standard enemy which can be avoided by shooting their shots fairly
easily.
Robot:
Keep on the left-bottom of the screen and shoot. The robot can only get
you when its going off the screen. You can see this happening anyway, so
just dodge it by sneaking past when itīs on the top of the screen.
Delivers missiles pickups.
Red spider:
Easiest avoided by staying as low on the screen as possible. Plan your
move by the enemies firing pattern - dodge.
Bossmonster:
Fire your megabombs when it appers on screen. This boss moves in a set
pattern which is fairly easy to learn. Once you know it, dodge by going
vertically opposite of it. The blue bullets itīs firing can be shot
easily, but the yellow should be avoided as they kill you in two hits. You
know when itīs about to fire yellow ones as thereīs a slight pause in firing.
Level 10:
The mother alien:
This one can seem impossible for a start, but fear not as it can be
"tamed". The boss will search for your an angle and try to attack your
position. It will attack just before it sends off a series of small
bullets. Avoid by sneaking off as fast as possible and go to the top off
the screen. Up here you CAN get the boss to point downwards by staying
vertically in line with it and move slightly left and right in order to
confuse it. Fire constantly, and with (quite) some persistance you will
kill it sooner or later. Fire off all remaining megabombs! After itīs
been killed, small spiders will crawl up from the hole underneath it.
These need not be shot, just avoid them to complete the game!
